On Sunday, June 7, West Side Campaign Against Hunger (WSCAH) invites New Yorkers of all ages to its fifth annual block party, WSCAH ROCKS THE BLOCK, a free, family-friendly event that celebrates the power of community. From 12 pm to 4 pm, 86th Street between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive will be transformed into a vibrant hub of volunteerism, advocacy, and fun for the whole family.

Attendees will roll up their sleeves to pack healthy groceries for families across NYC, raise their voices in support of policies that promote food equity, and enjoy music, arts and crafts, with food generously provided by Tiki Chick and coffee from local roasters, Buunni Coffee. Also returning this year are live readings from the winners of WSCAH’s 2026 Writing Against Hunger contest, a powerful initiative that invites young people to reflect on the ongoing hunger crisis in the United States today.

“This block party is more than just a celebration. It’s a chance for the community to come together and be part of the solution,” said Greg Silverman, CEO of WSCAH. “Everyone has a role to play in building a city where all New Yorkers have access to healthy food.”

Whether you are a longtime supporter or new to WSCAH’s mission, the block party is a great opportunity to connect with neighbors, make a difference, and have some fun. Don’t miss this meaningful and memorable day.

Register now and join WSCAH to ROCK THE BLOCK! Pre-registered guests will also receive a special swag gift on arrival.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
