A man was shot Sunday night on the Upper West Side, police said.

A 28-year-old man was standing around 7:50 p.m. outside of 176 West 87th Street, near the corner of Amsterdam Avenue, when he was shot in the hand, NYPD said.

The shooter fled in an unknown direction, and the victim was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, police said.

As of Monday morning, NYPD had no added details about the shooting besides that the victim was “highly uncooperative” in his interactions with officers after the incident.

There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Oh, maybe around 7:50 PM. Just an educated guess.

Notice how there will be more outrage from the usual commenters about an offhand remark from a zoom meeting than there will be about this.

Yes because there are a lot of prejudices amongst liberals and they get defensive when there is overt racism because it makes it harder for them to hide their own prejudices! It’s all projection!

Zero context to this story. Sorry being against racism is offensive to you for some strange reason

I agree. Opinions voiced by people whose personalities are overly formulated by a group identity are entirely predictable and tiresome. Not only do they tend to lack any insight, they almost always reveal an astounding lack of self-awareness by the commentator.

Yep. Every summer in Chicago, 2000 young black men are gunned down by other young black men, yet the enlightened commentariat stays silent. Then some ICE agents show up to arrest a violent Tren de Aragua gang member, and said commentariat awakes from their slumber to stage protests and shout about the “end of democracy”, or something.

I heard that 5 year old that ICE arrested was one of the most notorious gangsters in Minnesota, leaving a trail of bodies behind him for the past twenty years!

Have they released the “victims” extensive criminal record yet?

I would bet he shot himself accidentally. I have no sympathy for anyone who’s highly uncooperative with the police too bad.

“highly uncooperative” in his interactions with officers

And rightly so. Why would he speak to the police who want to punish and brutalize the poor confused individual who did this. They should have brought in the social workers to help the victim process his trauma, gain his trust and the gotten the name of the poor troubled soul who did the shooting so that his healing process can begin. How could he be expected to open up about his troubled youth in the hostile environment of a police station. Social workers have warm inviting offices and often have stuffed animals to talk to if this man so failed by the system isn’t ready to trust a human yet. Let the healing begin.

As another commenter reminded someone, in another post, who was trying to be clever in a rather heavy handed way : “Brevity is the soul of wit.”

Reading between the lines, I am guessing the victim knew who shot him.

“Uncooperative” indicates criminal type, possibly involved in a dispute with another criminal type. “Skel on Skel violence”.

If the victim is uncooperative, can we safely deduce that this is one drug dealer shooting another drug dealer. If no taxpayers were hurt. Who cares

I feel badly for the police. How demoralizing must it be to try to help someone and have them be uncooperative? As I reflect on many social and societal problems today, it helps explain why many of us have become a bit numb to it all.

Since I was raised and lived in 176 west 87th Street from 1937 until 1961 this article shows me how the area has changed. Be reminded that this building was also the residence of Barney Greengrass and his Deli is in the building on the Amsterdam Avenue side.
