Photos and Words by David Tannenhauser
Buds, bountiful buds bubbling up,
harbinging spring,
flowering things.
Bleak behind,
joyful begins.
Lightening moods,
with these first traces.
Goodbye to sweaters,
hello to faces.

Pictures are beautiful!
Buds, buds everywhere and not a one to smoke.
Humans coming out from within scarves, hats, coats – from burrowing
in subways and curling up in bus stops –
make a pile on the sunny bench,
show yourself again to the world,
smiling at the sunshine whose warmth you feel, taking in
the yellow and purple amidst the greens on the ground,
the reds and yellows in the bushes,
the floppy bushy shapes big and small on twigs and trees,
busily alive with noisy birds.
🙂
Hurrah to spring, springing about, abundantly, never mind the odds of being blown off by wind or sogged down by rain or iced over by a late-freeze. Live gloriously, all! Wallflowers are safe and stable, but they fade, and they never get to feel the wind in their face or the sun on their petals. Hurrah to nature, let us bloom along!
Bravo!
And, can’t wait for some sun.
Beautiful photos! I love spring! I’ve been away from the UWS for over 10 years now. I ditched the cold weather for the warmth and sunshine in the south. Now, I consider moving back to the neighborhood. Certainly not for the winter weather, but for the people. I must admit though, the crime concerns me. It’s a bit different nowadays, and as I get older, it worries me. I do visit. There’s no place like the UWS. I just don’t know if it’s a friendly place for me anymore.
