The Upper West Side’s third legal cannabis dispensary opened in January, and there will be grand opening party for the store this Saturday.
The Flowery will have its grand opening celebration at the store’s location at 2465 Broadway, between West 91st and 92nd streets.
“The Upper West Side holds a special place in my heart,” Moe Ashor, the operating partner of The Flowery, said in a news release. “I spent countless days here visiting my grandfather who lived in this neighborhood his entire life. To now be part of this community in such a meaningful way is truly humbling.”
The Saturday grand opening event will feature a curated product menu, fun activities while waiting in line, opportunities to meet brand partners, and clothes and gift bags while supplies last.
The new Upper West Side outpost will be The Flowery’s fifth location in New York City. It is replacing the former Soul Cycle storefront, and is located next to an Equinox.

The new dispensary will be the first one to open in the northern section of the Upper West Side, as the other two legal cannabis shops are on West 66th and 72nd streets.
The Flowery will offer weed, edibles, pre-rolls, vaporizers, and more. You must have a valid government ID to enter the store.
The Upper West Side store is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A delivery option for products is also coming soon, but not yet set up.

The legal ones are ok with me
Gus will you be trying and reviewing some of the products?
I can neither confirm, nor deny this.
W 66th, not 69th for one of the existing dispensaries.
Thanks, fixed!
Apropos of openings and closings, the NYSC on W80/Broadway is closing on March 5. According to the letter from NYSC, the LL has “long term plans for the building.”
What’s the LL ?? No idea what that means!
I’m a member of NYSC on 80th / Broadway .. have been forever! Sadly the classes have all been dumbed down as they are throughout the city!!! ?? So I don’t go there now.
That’s funny – a weed shop next to a gym! Why not a liquor store as well?
Google it. There have been numerous articles written about people working out while they were high. There are 3 gyms located across the street from a new (legal) dispensary near my office. Possibly this wasn’t a coincidence, lol.
Is your point that gyms should have exclusion areas around them like schools?
Because that would be a bit weird.
These places all sell the same products so the only real difference is price and let’s just say that the Flowery does not do well in that regard.
Also they have different locations. And management styles. Very minor details that won’t affect anybody.
I, um, yeah . . .I, um, I’m okay with, um, . . . what was I saying? . . . Um, yeah . . . weed’s great. I welcome these, um, places to buy it. But my buddy Rico is gonna be mad. They’re taking away his customers.
Government ID is required to enter the store every time.
Shouldn’t they have the same rules as voting ?
New York does not require voters to present identification while voting.
However, if a voter did not provide valid identification at the time of registration, they must show identification at the polling place when voting for the first time.
you understand that it’s so they can verify the age of anyone who’s entering the store, right?
it’s been mandatory for all legal cannabis stores.
Not sure what voting has to do with this…. would love to hear your explaination.
Irrelevant!
And your point? You just wanted to bring up Voter ID?
This is just so bad and so unhealthy.
Does anyone know if the Alter Native shop that opened up on Broadway between 84/85 is a legal shop? Licensed? I inquired with Gale Brewer’s office but of course didn’t hear back.
I was wondering about this shop. It looks more like a pharmacy or a nail salon. I’ve never seen anyone in the store except a clerk with a white lab coat. And there are no signs that it is “licensed,” so it now makes sense that it’s not selling any THC products.
The white lab coat makes it official.
They sell CBD, not products with THC; also it is one of a chain of stores. The reviews of the Alter Natives stores on Google are very unfavorable.
Not according to the official list.

I assume since they said that there are only 3 on the UWS that that one next to Panera is not a legal dispensary.
The average adult American reads at a 7 grade level. The NYT is written at an 11th grade level. So most people probably can’t understand the NYT. Americans just voted for an incompetent fool to be the president. I wonder if this weed machine is financed by the same people that finance that brought that about.
All I want to know is where is all this tax money going that weed was supposed to provide
Likely the same place all the money from congestion pricing is going.
And the two drug front bodegas on Amsterdam and 94th/95th are still operating. Perhaps it’s because we aren’t in Gale’s territory anymore and Sean could care less about this little chunk of the 90s that got tacked onto the uptown district?
I would think Gale would care about Amsterdam 94/95th because she seems to live nearby! Those bodegas will scare away any new business for the space that Chelsea House vacated. Who wants to open a business near those drug retailers?
Shaun Abreu and his staff don’t even return phone calls from constituents. Glad to see he has an opponent this primary cycle.
I thought we were trying to rid the streets of drugs.
There are a half dozen schools or more in a three block radius. Unfortunate to expose kids to the legitimization of drugs. It was a hard battle to get people to understand how bad smoking and second hand smoke is, and yet we’ve traded cigarettes for something perhaps worse. The illegal shops carried an appropriate stigma, but now it’s gone. We’re progressing, as a society, closer to a dystopia.
Will: I take your point about the ill effects of smoking anything, but it’s vital to make a distinction between dispensaries with products for medical use (and often requiring a prescription) versus recreational marijuana. I suffered terribly from migraines until my primary care doctor okayed marijuana after FDA-approved drugs like sumatriptan all failed. It was a game-changer, the only thing I’ve ever found to alleviate the crippling symptoms and give my life back to me again.
Kayson212: Thank you for reminding me of the ‘other side’ of the issue. I completely forgot about medical-use marijuana! I’m glad that you’ve found something to alleviate your pain. I’m curious if the marijuana used for medical purposes is bought from a pharmacy-like place, and if prices are the same or similar to those from retail boutiques like these? Would a retail boutique like this be more convenient for buying medical-use marijuana?
The big problem I have with these boutiques is not with marijuana per se, (and certainly would never begrudge those with a legitimate need for access), but the way they market marijuana to the general public. The store pictured above could be selling caviar, French chocolate or handmade jewelry. Kids are impressionable and resourceful, and we’re making it easier for them to be lured in.
On the other hand, given that we might be invading Panama, Canada, Gaza and Greenland, I suppose we have bigger problems than this!
Joe: what in heaven’s name are you trying to say here??
Reading the comments it seems the average age of the readers of this site is above 75yrs old. And one would think they just moved here from somewhere in the Midwest.
Welcome to the UWS!
Knee-jerk ageism and geographic stereotyping, much?
What does age have to do with wisdom, Alvaro?
Or where a person comes from?
There are so many illegal ones just operating out in the open it’s ridiculous. There is no enforcement in the city anymore.
Nothing to celebrate here. This is disgraceful.
Geesh! you weed junkies….. get a life! There’s more to life than getting high!
Geesh! You NIMBY’S….. get a life! There’s more to life than meddling in the lives of others!
CALY:
inaccurate info. You cannot workout when
high. Dangerous on machines.
working out requires coordination physically
and this is not happening when you are
high. Try walking a straight line when high?
Impossible.
Enjoy your high in a relaxed environment
Do not drive, work out, etc or you might
hurt yourself
Duh. Use common sense.
Maybe you need to re-read my comment.
None of this is accurate.
Agreed. But at least it is in the form of poetry.
this is excellent! I can’t wait to grab a to-go coffee at Blankstreet, duck into the head shop for a pre-roll, spend a half hour on the tanning bed next door, and be all jazzed to hit the gym at equinox ! UWS living at its finest!
“the other two legal cannabis shops are on West 66th and 72nd streets”
This is pretty vague. How about telling us at least what avenues they’re between?
