Upper West Side and Morningside Heights Democratic clubs are joining together to host a mayoral candidate forum this month.
West Side Democrats, Broadway Democrats, and Columbia University College Democrats will host the UWS Mayoral Candidate Forum on January 29 from 7 to 9 p.m. at B’nai Jeshurun at 257 West 88th Street.
Here are the mayoral candidates who have confirmed they will be in attendance on the night.
- Michael Blake
- Brad Lander
- Zorhan Mamdani
- Zellnor Myrie
- Jessica Ramos
- Scott Stringer
- Whitney Tilson
Current Mayor Eric Adams has not yet confirmed his intentions.
“Manhattan’s Upper West Side, known for some of the heaviest voter turnouts in the state, is a must-stop for candidates cultivating potential voters in the New York City Mayoral Primary Election,” reads a poster for the event.
The candidate forum will be moderated by Columbia University professor Ester Fuchs and Politico journalist Jeff Coltin.
The event is open to the public, and you can register — HERE.

Adams would be crazy to participate with that group of losers.
Yes, his time would be much better invested at Mar-a-Lago in supplication before the Chosen One.
Or on Tucker Carlson, as he is tonight, reinforcing his petition for a pardon
If Adams really wanted to speed the process up, he could always declare himself an insurrectionist.
“Current Mayor Eric Adams” is a pregnant phrase.
The elected leaders who endorsed Mayor Adams in 2021—including Shaun Abreu, and Adriano Espaillat—are now pretending like they didn’t push him on all of us. Accountability starts with honesty, and the consequences of their choices are clear for all to see.
Hmm, I for one don’t recall feeling pushed to him by anyone, and indeed Adams came in dead last on my personal ranked-choice list, below even Yang.
It’s almost as if I felt a responsibility, and made the effort, to acquaint myself with the candidates’ backgrounds and positions. With William Poundstone (see his _Head in the Cloud_), I firmly believe that candidates should not be picked the way lotto-players pick lotto numbers.
Thanks, Gus. Tried to register, filled out the form. But the “submit” button didn’t work.

Current Mayor Adams is too busy begging for his pardon to govern the city, he certainly won’t be focused on speaking with constituents

Why in the world would you want a Columbia University professor to be involved in this forum? Columbia can’t manage their own university. We certainly don’t need their help in running the city.
The people causing problems at Columbia gates are city residents mostly from Brooklyn. This is a city issue.
What a perfectly silly comment! Professor Fuchs knows City Hall inside out, having held a top post in the Bloomberg Administration. And, having co-chaired a university commission on Anti-Semitism at Columbia, she’s shown how to maintain equanimity amid controversy. In short, an exemplary choice for moderating this forum.
This may not be popular, but I want Cuomo. An imperfect man, but the right person to stand up to Trump. That’s what NYC needs now, someone unafraid.
The right person to stand up to Trump?
“Cuomo: Trump NY hush money case ‘should have never been brought’” (https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4734858-andrew-cuomo-donald-trump-alvin-bragg-hush-money-case-new-york/)
With enemies like these….
Absolutely. I would vote for Cuomo in a heartbeat. He has his faults, but above all else, he loves this city and has always fought for the people of NYC.
people seem to forget just how corrupt the Andrew Cuomo administration was. Many of his direct underlings went to jail, but it never seemed to get to him. Do you remember the Buffalo Billion? The cancelling of the Moreland Commission?

I agree. I would vote for Cuomo. He is what NY needs.
It ought to be trivial to establish that NY doesn’t NEED Cuomo (in the primaries, anyhow), and many New Yorkers don’t even WANT him.
You want a proven perpetrator of sexual harassment against at least 11 women as your Mayor because he’s “unafraid”?!
I’m sick of people craving a strong man, give me an effective bureaucrat please. Just need someone who can run the city effectively.
“Effective Bureacrat” is a bit oxymoronic to me.
Managing any large organization (public or private) requires bureaucracy. That’s reality. If we want the city to function, we need a leader who knows how to control that bureaucracy effectively.
Where’s Jim Walden? He’s running for Mayor?
Someone just told me that Walden did declare his candidacy. He’s not on the roster for this forum because he’s not running as a Democrat. The forum is for Democratic candidates only. Walden is running as an Independent.
As far as I know, Jim Walden hasn’t officially declared his candidacy. And if he has, he didn’t attend the 1/16 forum in Brooklyn and he’s not listed on this one.
he’s running as an independent, not in Dem primary.
Please protect Columbia and kick the city protesters out.
I, too, filled out the form and the submit button didn’t work. I cleared the form, filled it out again, and the submit button still didn’t work. Does anyone have contact info for the sponsors of the forum?

I voted for Yang but still got Adams. I’ll vote for Mamdani this time, but who knows who we’ll get
Will it be aired, for those who cannot attend?
We must choose our candidate, not rely solely on political club endorsements. While our highest voting block is key, building broader alliances is essential for success.
Not to worry Eric, Trump will pardon you.
The fix is in, trust me.
Thank you and have a blessed day!
In that a Trump pardon would be a political kiss of death, I ardently hope the fix is in.
