Upper West Side wine lovers take notice!
A neighborhood spot was just named among the 20 best places to drink wine in New York City.
Eater New York, a food review and news website, recently included Vin Sur Vingt Wine Bar at 66 West 84th Street, between Columbus and Central Park West, in its list of 20 great places to grab a glass of wine in the five boroughs.
The Upper West Side wine bar does not take reservations. It has indoor and outdoor seating, a daily happy hour from 5 to 6 p.m., along with a second late-night happy hour from 10 p.m. to closing, and small-plate French cuisine.
The menu offers 250 wines, including 50 by the glass, with many of the options sourced from French regions such as Bordeaux, Loire Valley, Alsace, Languedoc, Bourgone, and Corisca.
Vin Sur Vingt has multiple locations in New York City and Washington D.C., including a second on the Upper West Side at 100 Riverside Boulevard (West 64th Street).
“The intimate space is meticulously designed to recreate the ambiance of an authentic Bar a Vin in France,” reads a description of Vin Sur Vingt’s original UWS location on its website. “A pewter-topped bar stretches along the length of the venue, complemented by large tilted mirrors on a copper-plated ceiling, reflecting cozy dim lighting.”

Don Antonio’s was named 30th best pizza in the world:

Don Antonio’s also has the best gluten-free pizza we’ve found so far.
They have a separate oven and keep things celiac-safe.
I’m surprised Vanguard didn’t get a nod!!
And Bin 71 – also a great spot!
Vin Sur Vingt has been a lovely spot for years. I used to go regularly before the pandemic and still make sporadic visits. They have a small food menu that used to taste more interesting years ago than now.
The real charm of the place is created by the head bartender Mas and his assistant Didie. These guys are true gems and really great people. They draw good quality bar clients (read fun, affable and interesting). My only kink is that the place, which used to be open until very late, now starts clearing out by 11 pm. The uws needs a bar that stays open late for those of us night owls who like a good glass of wine and conversation.
Highly recommended.
I always prefer to order a glass of wine rather than grab one. When did grab become the go to verb for ordering?
The same time people starting “doing” food sadly.
What about Tap-A-Keg.
Simply the best.
Great service and friendly crowd.
Best staff ever!
