The Central Park Boathouse restaurant fully reopened earlier this week under its new ownership.
Located on the east side of the park near 74th Street, the Boathouse partially reopened last summer when the venue’s Express Cafe and rowboat rentals resumed operation, with the indoor restaurant expected to open in the fall.
That fall opening did not materialize, but the boathouse restaurant did fully reopen for lunch and dinner this past Monday.
The Boathouse has served patrons in this New York City landmark building since 1954. The new operator is the Legends Hospitality Group, which provides the food at Yankee Stadium and signed a 10-year licensee contract for the Boathouse in 2023. The restaurant is being run by Executive Chef Adam Fiscus and Consulting Chef Dave Pasternack.
Prior to Legends landing the contract and committing to a $3.25 million capital investment in the Boathouse, the iconic restaurant was set to close permanently after the previous owner said the economics of the eatery were no longer sustainable.
The days of the Boathouse closing are behind us now, and here’s a look at what you can expect from the restaurant as the weather begins to warm up.
Each meal starts with a complimentary relish tray, with dinner customers then having the option to choose between the following sections: Seafood bar, starters, soups, pastas, entrees, and sides.
Some of the selections include $24 oysters, $24 buffalo mozzarella, $14 clam chowder, $34 linguini with clams, $54 filet of beef, and $12 fries with Russian dressing.
The lunch menu is similar, with slightly fewer entree and pasta options.
There are also dessert and cocktail menus, with the classic drinks going for between $19 and $22.
Additionally, the all-day cafe will remain open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Dockside Dining” will also give customers the option to eat outdoors at the restaurant, but it won’t reopen until the weather becomes warmer.

The Boathouse is the original dining shed! I saw a rat nearby once. Why I can’t imagine who would even want to eat outside. It should be torn down for more parking so that our neighbors in NJ can easily drive in, as we all know, its spending from NJ drivers that keeps our city afloat!

The boathouse was a horror show selling rolling hot dogs and disgusting orange drink until a private company with a vision took it over. A 20 year run ended by the pandemic and government and union intransigence and incompetence. At least it wasn’t 5 years like Tavern On The Green.
I’m glad it’s open again. I have been to two weddings there.
Fries with Russian dressing? Do they serve Russian dressing on the hotdogs at Yankee Stadium?
Too bad they got a company from Texas to run it instead of a local company.
What hapened to the charming
cafe???? It’s been replaced it with another dining area with velvet couches and white tablecloths. I was stunned!!!.
The new indoor cafe eating area is now blocked off with walls. Dark and gloomy. No windows..
I used to love eating at cafe on weekend mornings.
The boat house clearly doesn’t want to cater to regulars. I will not be going back.. They just want tourists now.
