Dispute ‘Over Music’ Leads to Non-Fatal Stabbing at Construction Site

The police had scant information, but did confirm that a non-fatal stabbing took place at a construction site at 36 West 66th Street on Friday at around 12:29 p.m. That address is adjacent to what will become a 69-story residential skyscraper — the tallest tower on the Upper West Side — an Extell building going up at 50 West 66th Street.

Police only said that two individuals were “disputing” within the construction site, and one stabbed the other in the stomach. One individual is in custody, the other was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

WPIX11 added some details, saying that the individuals were fighting “over music,”  and that “a 23-year-old construction worker stabbed a 34-year-old construction worker three times in the torso.”

Seriously? Oh for goodness sake. I have a nerdy habit of reading very old issues of the Times on the NYTimesMachine and I can confirm there has always been random unfortunate “disputing” like this going on in our vast beloved city. Seems like a safe bet that there always will be. There are plenty of other places to go live if one believes that they might be free of disputing.

Agreed. And one of the factors in this hysteria is the way that electronic media has revolutionized how quickly information is transmitted to a wide audience.
