Notices
Our calendar has lots of local events! Click on the link or the lady in the upper righthand corner to look.

Two controversial topics — a new safe haven for homeless people on West 83rd Street and east-west protected bike lanes –– will be discussed and voted on by Community Board 7 at their next full-board meeting on April 4th. The resolutions the full board will consider are created by committees, which meet periodically throughout the month, sometimes in joint sessions. There is always a public segment of both committee and full-board meetings during which anyone — from the community or not — can express their views for the record. Sometimes, questions and comments can be submitted beforehand. The agendas of all meetings are listed on CB 7’s website in advance. The meetings are held on Zoom. The views of those who attend and speak out at meetings are presumably reflected by the board in their final resolutions, which are sent to appropriate government agencies on an advisory basis. For example, a bike-lane resolution goes to the Department of Transportation. Board Chair Beverly Donohue explained at a recent meeting that resolutions are taken into consideration, more or less seriously, by the different agencies. Here are this week’s committee meetings and links to register. Again, check their agendas for issues that might interest you on the CB 7 website.

Monday, March 20th, 6:30pm – Join the March 20th Parks & Environment Committee meeting.

Tuesday, March 21st, 7:00pm – Join the March 21st Steering Committee meeting.

Wednesday, March 22nd, 6:30pm – Join the March 22nd Public Safety Committee meeting.

Seasonal News
Has it ever been better said? “Spring has Sprung.” But who said it? Blogger Marilynne Eichinger writes, “Though often attributed to Ogden Nash or ee cummings, the poem has roots that go back further in time to an anonymous author.” And then she reveals the verse she grew up with: ‘Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, I wonders where the birdies is. They say the birds is on the wing. Ain’t that absurd? I always thought the wing was on the bird.”

Finally, here’s a snippet to welcome spring created for our instagram account by the incomparable Yvonne Vavra.
