West Side Judaica Gets Lease Renewed for at Least a Year; ‘We Don’t Plan on Leaving Anytime Soon’

Inside West Side Judaica.

An 85-year-old store that sells Judaica announced on Monday that it has a new lease on life — for the next year at least. West Side Judaica on Broadway between 88th and 89th Streets sent us a note announcing the lease extension.

In 2017, the store said it would close because business had declined. But the announcement sparked a swell of sales that inspired owner Yaakov Saltzer to reconsider. This year, the store held a clearance sale and said it “doesn’t look promising.”

That all appears to have changed on Monday:

Great News!

West Side Judaica is happy to announce, that we just extended our lease!

That means that we will continue servicing our community with all your Judaica needs!

Come stop by for our full selection of books, gifts (Chanukah is around the corner!), and everything else we have to offer!

At West Side Judaica we pride ourselves in giving you the best shopping experience that one can ask for. Our knowledgeable staff can help you find anything and everything you may need!

DID YOU KNOW

West Side Judaica is one of the only Judaica Stores left in the city! And we don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, so come by and visit us at 2412 Broadway (between 88-89 Street) New York, NY 10024.

We can’t wait to see you!

From the staff at

West Side Judaica Inc.

This is heart-warming news. I need to visit this place soon! Many visits to Barney Greengrass but not even one visit to West Side Judaica. That needs to change.

Great news. I always visit this store when I’m in New York. Grew up in the neighborhood but now am in Worcester, MA, after 40 years in Kansas City.

Mazel Tov!!! This makes me so happy! When they had their “clearance” sale I would go in and shop for whatever I needed but ask them to charge me the full price…it broke my heart to imagine them closing. This store means so much to the neighborhood. The owners and staff are the kindest most helpful people and welcome everyone. Can’t wait to head over soon for some Chanukah shopping. Finally some good news around here!!

Sarah M says mazel tov can’t live here without West Side Judaica
they give out challa to those who need it , they help people w every situation, you cannot even buy a prayer book in the city out them , let alone a talit , or tefillin, they provide warmth and spiritual growth in a tough city , everyone loves it there , they represent the whole community and everyone is always welcome
