Belvedere Castle is one of the buildings people can tour.
This weekend — October 19-20 — the annual Open House New York (OHNY) festival will be held. Number four on Time Out magazine’s list of “The best things to do in the fall in NYC,” OHNY offers an opportunity to create a personal itinerary of guided walking tours, taking you inside some of the city’s normally off-limits places: historic buildings, architectural masterpieces, and landmarks. Most of the tours are free, though some require reservations and charge fees.
Time Out called this “an incredibly popular event,” and that is evident; some of the tours are already sold out. But many “open access” sites remain, including some in the neighborhood or nearby, such as the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Grant’s Tomb, Belvedere Castle, and the Little Red Lighthouse.
Go to Open House New York to see a complete list of destinations, times, and directions.
Great to have the information about Open House NY. Thank you, Carol!
