Goddard Riverside Book Fair Offers Brand-New Books at Half Price

The Goddard Riverside Book Fair is back on November 17 and 18 – with a new location, a new opening night party, and lots of brand-new books!

The 32nd Annual Book Fair will take place at the Bernie Wohl Center, Goddard’s community hub and the home of its arts program. As always, publishers donate brand-new books fresh from this year’s releases. Goddard sells them at half price to raise money for its programs for its work in homelessness, youth, aging, mental health, nutrition and other areas.

This year’s selection of Young Adult books is especially large, but there are also plenty of titles in fiction, mystery, current events, history, cookbooks, children’s, and other categories.

The Book Fair is free and will be open from 10 am until 5 pm both days. There’s an opening-night party on Friday the 16th from 6 to 9, where guests can enjoy cocktails and light bites while browsing the tables. First Look Friday will also feature a book signing by James Mustich, author of 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die. This chunky volume is catnip for serious readers – it’s packed with recommendations for great books ranging from the famous (War and Peace) to the obscure (1950s English mountaineering satire The Ascent of Rum Doodle). There’s even a checklist at the end so you can track your progress!

First Look Friday tickets are $75 each and help support the programs of Goddard Riverside. For information about both the Book Fair and First Look Friday, go to www.goddard.org/bookfair2018.
