Two Women Found Next to Hudson River Were Sisters from Virginia

Two women whose bodies were found on the rocks next to the Hudson River have been identified by police as Rotana Farea, 22, and her younger sister, 16-year-old Tala Farea. The two women are from Fairfax, Virginia.

Tata was listed on a missing person’s website in August, noting that she might be with her sister, according to the New York Post.

The Post reports that the two women “appeared to have landed in the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge with their feet taped and then traveled roughly 110 blocks south.” NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said “they were not in the water that long.”

Suicide?
Murder?
Sad sad end to two young lives.

It is extremely unlikely to be suicide when they were duct-taped together at the waist and feet. It was surely murder; moreover, I am betting they were alive when thrown in the water–they were taped together to ensure they couldn’t swim (think about it–why tape two dead bodies together before throwing them in the water)? A particularly cruel and horrible way to kill someone. I hope the killer is caught ASAP.

I’m not ruling anything out.
Could have been suicide.
Tape themselves and jump into the water.
Far fetched, I agree, but nothing should
be ruled out yet.

May they both rest in peace. Amen!

This is absolutely awful and should be bigger news. Unfortunately, the US has an abundance of awful news these days.

It should have been. Unfortunately incidents like “BBQ Becky” take over the news and social media.

It was previously reported that there was no sign of trauma, so I don’t understand why the New York Post says it appears they fell from the GW Bridge.

Follow-up on the sisters found taped to each other on the banks of the Hudson. There was an article in the Washington Post. They were from Saudi Arabia (much in the news these days) and they had apparently applied for asylum. The embassy had called their parents in search of them when they turned up in the Hudson. There’s a new twist to this tragedy.
They are sisters, citizens of Saudi Arabia.
They came to the states in 2015, with their family and lived in Faifaxx.
They did NOT fall off the GW Bridge.
