The bodies of two women were found on rocks next to the Hudson River near 68th Street around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday, causing police to close off part of the park around 3 p.m.

“Both women were fully clothed. There were no signs of trauma,” ABC reported, noting that police said the women were bound with duct tape.

We will have more on this as we get more information.

Terrible, terrible news. May they rest in peace and their families find even the slightest comfort.

There is zero police presence along the Hudson. An evening trip to the Boat Basin Cafe, with few or no lights, no cross marking for oncoming ramps, etc, make it an incredibly risky trek. There is a consistent chronology of crime west of Broadway on the UWS, due to lack confidence f foot traffic, lighting, and police coverage. I don’t blame our precincts: they have to use their budget at staff in triage fashion.

I agree, there is absolutely no police presence in riverside park south. There is also practically no park workers presence as well. There used to be more park presence but not this past summer. When you walk south of the cafe you are on your own. Groups of teenage bike riders come onto the walk-only paths and dogs including pit bulls are left off leash. Homeless camp out there. I love this park, but it is risky to walk there alone.
