A teenager was slashed Thursday afternoon on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson confirmed to West Side Rag.

The 15-year-old boy was slashed in the forehead around 3:30 p.m. at the corner of West 86th Street and Broadway, following a physical fight with three other teenagers, NYPD said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai West in “not likely” condition, which means he is not likely to die, police said.

The trio of suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

This is a developing story, please check back in for updates.

Mamdani should have sent a social worker to defuse the situation.

Whoa. Glad kid will be ok. I wonder how the kids knew each other and what school they went to.

Just because the kid isn’t dead you think he’s okay?

When I was a boy, we got into fights, but no one pulled out a knife and knifed another kid, even an enemy.

Once again., that’s the unfortunate truth. Something needs to be done to change that scenario and saying as society is paying the price for the crimes of boys and men.

When I moved to the UWS, the kids selling drugs on Broadway & 86th were from the nearby eliitecprivate school.

What is your point – the kids from Trinity commit as much violent crimes as the kids from Brandeis?

I think it is way more complicated than that.Drug dealing and violence are not the same thing. You can have one without the other. Also, I do not recall any violence from Trinity, but way more violence from Brandeis. Also. Brandeis doesn’t really exist anymore and I would bet that some of the schools there have more of a violence issue than other

For another, I went to an elite public high school in another neighborhood, with a lot of drug doing and selling
They were buying from from the nearby not so elite schools. Sometimes to buy for themselves and sometimes for more resale.

Not likely. They are under 18. Thanks to the ‘raise the age ‘ laws nothing will happen. You can commit violent crimes if you are under 18 and nothing happens. It’s a juvenile case and records are sealed.

Is “Not likely” a new category of condition? I don’t think I’ve ever come across it before.

A bit vague, right? Will he make it? “Not Likely” Will he die? “Not Likely”. Will his attackers be caught? “Not likely”

Any identifying characteristics? What school they go to? Height? Hair color? Race?

It sounds like this was not a random act of violence so the victim knew who it was. Hopefully they can be IDed. And then WSR could share the details. Thanks.

Gus,
“Not likely” is my new favorite phrase. So very many situations in which it is applicable. — from political landscape to sports to workplace initiatives.
Thank you for sharing this.

A billion + dollars every year for the NYPD, and they’re not on subway platforms with anywhere near the frequency they were 10 years ago.

I hear ya. Just imagine all the money we could save by eliminating all social programs.
I guess we’ll have that figure soon enough.

What exactly did you hear? James did not suggest eliminating all social programs. His point was that many of them make no meaningful difference. I don’t understand why you’re so persistently sarcastic toward most posters in this forum

I saw this. It looked very much like it actually happened in a train car as it was pulling into 86. Teens concerned got out, not sure about assailant. Cops were called to the platform.

It happened on the 1 train. The assailants absconded as soon as the train pulled into the station. They were black males.
