During this holiday season it is especially tough to find time to incorporate fitness in to your life, so we’ve given you five simple tips to burn fat during the holidays.

1. Studies show that nutrition is 80% of fat loss. You can’t out train a bad diet. Eat lean protein such as turkey, grilled or baked chicken fish. Stick with the “good carbs” like whole grains fruits and veggies. Avoid anything that is white like white rice, bread, potatoes and of course cakes, cookies and chips should be limited.

2. Always start you day off right with breakfast. Skipping breakfast will make it hard to eat well throughout the day. When you skip breakfast you blood sugar will be low from all those hours of not eating. You will then to start to crave all the “bad” stuff such as sweets and bread. In addition, you will eat more throughout the day and probably have night cravings of once again for the “bad” stuff because you didn’t eat enough during the day.

3. Always eat a protein and “good carbohydrate with each meal. This will keep you blood sugar in check and help to avoid any cravings. Also, think small portion throughout the day to avoid hunger and keep your metabolism in rev mode.

4. Make sure to perform some form of cardiovascular exercise 3-5 days a week for at least 30 minutes. The best approach is to incorporate a combination of steady state cardio and interval training.And of course, just move as much as possible throughout the week to burn some additional calories and keep your hear healthy.

5. Do not forget about strength training. The more muscle you have the faster your resting matabolism will be and in turm burn more calories throughout the day. Strength training will also preserve muscle when cutting calories, which will keep your metaboism from getting slower and help to avoid any loose skin.

6. Perform exercises in a circuit fashion, which means you will move from one exercise to the next without much of a break. Also, incorporate combination exercises like combining a squat and a row or a lunge and a shoulder press. Combination exercises burn more calores because you end up working more muscle mass and the more muscle you move the more calories you burn.

Sunday: Yoga @12pm
