A dead body was found in Central Park on Thursday, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag.

The person was found unresponsive around 10:50 a.m. near 63 Traverse Road and Central Park, not far from the Central Park Carousel, police said. PIX11 reported that the body was found under a pile of snow.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police, who did not have any identifying information as of 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The NYPD’s chief medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The police spokesperson did not tell the Rag whether the death was considered suspicious.

We will update this story when we learn more.

When was the last time we had leaves on the ground? The original story states that the body buried in the snow and under a pile of leaves, which would be slightly suspicious. Is that location considered a remote area?

It doesn’t say anything about a pile of leaves! It says snow

In CP, leaves are often collected at specific locations, often in corrals along a path or lawn. Could have been someone who buried themselves under the leaves as a blanket but the leafy blanket wasn’t enough to survive the cold.

Good to know, thank you. Very sad that people so often go missing here and no one seems to notice.

Unless people are dying twice, everyone dies that has never died before.

Was it a poor soul trying to get warm? Or a homicide?

Both are very bad news. Rest in peace.

Dead person. Why dehumanize by saying body? Because it’s more sensational?

I think that’s common usage. I’m guessing that the implication is that whatever made the person a person, is no longer there.

When you die you leave behind a body. You don’t leave behind a person.

I believe the article said the body was found under the snow…..not leaves. Am I correct?
