A 23-year-old from the Bronx has been charged with murdering Savyon Zabar, the 54-year-old nightclub maven found in his apartment at 151 West 81st Street on January 4. Police say Zabar appeared to have been strangled.

Daquan King was charged with second-degree murder. Pix11 News reports that King is a masseur who police say was in Zabar’s apartment before he was found dead.

    Daquan King is a man.

    He’s a masseur, not a masseuse.

    Anyway, glad they got him.

Hmmmm….where is everyone rushing to this guys defense?? You know, like our little stabber from the other story?

Just curious why not in this case? although I do have my suspicions.

      That’s an interesting perspective.

I was wondering where the outrage was from people who hate this killer.
It is interesting that different victims yield different levels of fury and sympathy.
So far it seems that not one person has written anything even remotely similar to what was written about the guy who had the altercation with the food cart operator.

        Two entirely different situations.

Food cart vendor was going about his business when apparently there was some sort of verbal altercation between himself and the attacker that escalated.

OTOH rightly or wrongly a gay man being killed/harmed by another man he let/brought into his home for some sort of sexual tryst does get very little interest/sympathy.

Probably because it has happened, happens and (sadly) likely will continue to happen far too often.

Again am not saying any of this is right, but just how things seem to roll along.

I agree with you and I also feel a greater sympathy for the cart vendor.

However, there were still two individuals who were victims of violent crime in the same neighborhood at around the same period of time.
One person is dead but there is no outcry on the board.

I’m not adding a personal judgment. I only thought it was interesting given what UWS_lifer wrote (although I think he was being provocative rather than thoughtful).

Don’t they mean masseur? Assuming Daquan King is a guy.

Is the dead man part of the Zabar family?
It is not a common name.

While the Zabar family of the store name is most common to New Yorkers, the thing is common enough in Israel.

In fact the deceased mother and brother came in from Israel to handle the funeral and other affairs.

        “The ‘thing’ is common….” Huh?

          Name, thing, whatever.

Phoebe, I believe “thing” = “name”

And “the deceased mother” = “the deceased’s mother”
