A water leak at Cafe Fiorello at 1900 Broadway (63rd) caused the fire department to shut down the water to the restaurant on Friday night, an FDNY spokesman said. The leak on the ground floor was called in at 6:41 p.m., according to the spokesman and was under control as of 7:17 p.m. The phone at Fiorello was being directed to voice mail as of 8 p.m.
Thanks to Jennifer for the tip and photo.
Well, considering that it IS Café Fiorello, they probably quickly recovered and offered patrons their choice of some of the world’s priciest bottled waters, such as:
1) Tasmanian Rain…@ $5 for 750ml. The water comes from “Down Under” on the island of Tasmania. According to the website “The Richest”, “This bottled water is sourced from this island’s rain. Yes, it is collected straight to the bottle from the sky without the water even touching the ground.”; or
2) Lauquen Artes Mineral Water @ $6 for 750ml
Even better than water from rain (who knows? rain water might contain nasty little microbes of air pollution) is water from deep underground. Supposedly, “The water is sourced from an aquifer with a depth of 1,500 feet. This aquifer is located in a remote part of the Andes mountains.”; or
3) AquaDeco @ $12 for 750 ml “this bottled water comes in an extremely attractive and well-built bottle that does justice to the ArtDeco comparison….The water is sourced from unspoiled and untouched springs in Canada.”
HOWEVER, if you’re not a 1-percenter and if you hate to dispose of your disposable cash, there is always the 99-percenter’s choice. That would be:
Eau de Flint, from the now infamous Faucets of Flint (Michigan). It comes in a lovely keepsake bottle shaped like a commode.
Not only is it cheap, they actually pay YOU to drink it.
This location has tremendous rent. You want cheaper spring water options at a restaurant? Go uptown 40+ blocks to where I am “Manhattan Valley”.
