A 43-year-old man was charged Friday in connection with a sexual assault on West 105th street in September in which the assailant forced his way into the victim’s apartment. Andy Sterling was charged with first degree sexual assault, burglary in connection with a sexual assault, sexual abuse, and obstruction of breathing.
The victim in the assault spoke out afterwards and said she’s not afraid to testify against her attacker.
A detective with the special victims unit gave the following account of the crime:
“I am informed by a person of an address known to the District Attorney’s Office, that defendant followed informant into her building. As the informant entered her apartment, the defendant pushed into her apartment behind her and knocked informant to the ground. I am also informed that informant began to yell and that defendant said to her “Shut up,” and placed his hand around her neck and began to apply pressure causing informant difficulty breathing. I am also informed that the informant placed her mouth on the defendant’s penis and her hand on the defendant’s penis.”
Sterling’s lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
Relieved to see they have a suspect. Is he the same guy robbing women in the same area (105-106th St)?
