Alice Tully Hall (1941 Broadway)

Acclaimed Baroque violinist Monica Huggett leads Juilliard415 in a program of Mozart’s overture to his beloved opera, The Marriage of Figaro, and concert aria “Bella mia fiamma” performed by Juilliard soprano Hyesun Park. Double bass soloist and Juilliard Historical Performance Pippa Macmillan performs Sperger’s Concerto No. 18, preceding the ensemble’s first-ever performance of a large-scale Beethoven work—Symphony No. 1, premiered at the turn of the nineteenth century.

Juilliard New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013

Sunday, December 15 at 3 PM

Juilliard’s Peter Jay Sharp Theater (155 W 65th Street, Street Level)

New Dances PLUS: Edition 2013 brings together three of today’s notable choreographers (Takehiro Ueyama, Brian Brooks, and Darrell Grand Moultrie), assigned to create world-premiere commissions for the classes in Juilliard’s Dance Division, and features Juilliard’s fourth-year dancers in the first United States performances of acclaimed choreographer Pina Bausch’s Wind von West (1975). The December 11th and 12th performances of Wind von West include dancers from the Folkwang University in Essen, Germany.

Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “a take-charge maestro who invests everything he conducts with deep musical understanding,” Larry Rachleff returns to Juilliard to lead the Juilliard Orchestra in a program featuring Rachmaninoff’s transcendent second piano concerto performed by Juilliard pianist Hanbo Liu, and Dvořák’s celebrated Symphony No. 7.
