Community Board 7 meets on Wednesday night at Rodeph Sholom on 83rd street, and there are a few items on the agenda that could draw a crowd, including the redesign of Amsterdam Avenue to potentially include protected bike lanes and a redesign for part of Riverside Park South (we will have more on the redesign before the meeting). The community board is also set to debate whether to give the new Tavern on the Green a liquor license.

14. CB7 priorities for the NYC Expense Budget for Fiscal Year 2015.
Re the Bike Lanes – OK, we all know it’s a done deal…but this time let’s do it right.
Not only a Bike Lane, but, also, to its right a:
Razor Scooter Lane (adults only)
Razor Scooter Lane (children only)
Electro Lane (all those little “Jazzy” trikes and their clones)
Nanny Lane (no width restrictions)
Freestyle Lane (perfect for skateboarders, off (or on) duty cops on rice burners, Unicycles, supermarket carts and Soap Box Derby hopefuls.
If properly implimented, this should leave the sidewalks to the cars…which would probably improve traffic flow (sorry, pedestrians).
Two more new luxury buildings (77th Street and 80th Street) now planned for the UWS, according to the West Side Rag. These are in addition to construction at Fordham, plus a luxury tower going up on Amsterdam and 68th and another slated for Amsterdam & 69th. And others.
All these building generate traffic – repair trucks, service trucks plus delivery trucks to upscale residents, not to mention residents who will have cars (and they can afford to.)
Additional traffic throughout the area, including Amsterdam. Amsterdam is already very busy. A bike lane, plus ever-increasing development/traffic is a nightmare.
Is anyone going to raise an issue about the construction of the very tall building proposed or being constructed on West 57th Street that will cast a huge shadow over Central Park and parts of UWS? This is what was fought against with the Time Warner building. Are people giving up?
