In lieu of morning bulletins, we’re going to try to run a roundup of news items we see in other outlets once a week. Check out the wide array of local news below (there’s so damn much we’re considering going back to daily roundups!).

“The board of 39 W. 67th Street is hauling the penthouse’s owner and her rent-controlled tenant to court to prevent an alleged infestation of ‘5,000 to 10,000’ bedbugs from spreading throughout the 40-unit building, the Manhattan Supreme Court filing states.” The owner says the bugs have been “contained.” (NY Post)

A yogi at Pure Yoga on 77th said she was in the “corpse pose” in a studio when a man came in and sat next to her. “At first Herskovitz, 55, ignored the noise until ‘she felt that there was a person next to her, and she opened her eyes to find a Pure Yoga employee, a maintenance associate, about two feet away, masturbating,'” she said in a lawsuit. “A spokesperson for Pure Yoga said the studio is ‘aware of the allegations and takes them seriously. Police have told us there’s no evidence of a crime.'” (NY Post)

Legendary Central Park birder Starr Saphir died last week after a battle with breast cancer. “She led walks in New York’s Central Park for some 30 years and enriched so many city lives.” (NPR)

St. Luke’s-Roosevelt hospital on 114th is eliminating its inpatient pediatric unit, meaning kids will have to be transferred from the ER there to the hospital on 59th Street if the need to be admitted. (DNAinfo)

“Basic Trust, a not-for-profit childcare center, has purchased an Upper West Side townhouse to house its programs. The organization paid $3.8 million for the four-story plus townhouse at 127 West 94th Street. The building offers 5,541 square feet. The deal closed late January.” (Observer)

Central Park remembers Ed Koch. (Central Park Conservancy)

Columbia University students have been protesting the treatment of campus workers at Faculty House. (Bwog and Columbia Spectator)

The current outline of City Council district lines under proposed redistricting. (NYC)

NYPD won’t help alleviate illegally parked cars on 83rd Street. “Carson Dixon says the curbs and sidewalks of W. 83rd Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues are lined constantly with illegally parked vehicles, left there by postal workers, firefighters, and employees of a parking garage.” (Streetsblog)

The Collegiate School plans to move to 61st Street. (NY Times)
