DSW OPENING ON SATURDAY; 36,000 PAIRS OF SHOES

July 19, 2012 | 5:12 PM
in NEWS, OPEN/CLOSED
1

DSW will swing open the doors to a big new shoe emporium in the old Filene’s Basement space at 79th Street and Broadway on Saturday.

“At over 26,000 square feet, the 79th & Broadway store boasts three floors of selling space, housing over 36,000 pairs of men’s and women’s shoes as well as accessories. One entire floor will be totally dedicated to men’s footwear,’ the company said in a statement today.

We broke the news about DSW back in March.

Footwear chain Geox will be opening soon just blocks away and Harry’s Shoes on 83rd Street is preparing a major expansion that will open to the public in September.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
