Two new shoe stores and a major shoe store expansion will turn the upper-70’s/low-80’s into the shoe capital of the Upper West Side by the end of the summer.
As we reported, Harry’s Shoes on 83rd will be nearly tripling in size and DSW will be opening a new store in the old Filene’s basement on 79th and Broadway. Now, Geox, an Italian company that makes “breathable” shoes is planning to open an outpost at 82nd Street and Broadway where Liberty Travel used to be. The company’s founder was inspired to start a shoe company after his feet got hot one day in Reno and he cut holes in the soles of his shoes. (true story!)
A Geox manager told me that the company plans to open around the first week of August.

Like any of this matters….let’s get on with our lives.
