Another week of Fastrack starts this week on the 1, 2 and 3 lines. Per the MTA: “Fastrack returns to the on June 25, closing stations on the 34 St-Penn Station to Atlantic Av-Barclays Ctr/South Ferry corridor. There will be no service between 34 St-Penn Station and South Ferry, and no or between 34 St-Penn Station and Atlantic Av-Barclays Center. Please allow additional travel time.”

Update: A fire erupted on Sunday night in a second-floor apartment at 214 west 92nd, a seven-story building. As seen in the photo above by Malcolm Carter, flames shot out of the apartment and sent smoke streaming through the neighborhood, several witnesses told us. The fire was called in at 8:32 p.m., and 66 firefighters showed up to fight it. It was under control by 9:08 p.m. Three people were injured, including a civilian who refused medical attention and two firefighters, who were transported to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, the FDNY told us. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Daniel Gillen, a blind student at the Upper West Side’s Beacon High School, learned to play classical piano by reading Braille music sheets and then memorizing the notes, harmony and rhythm. He won the chancellor’s Remarkable Achievement Award and is headed to Haverford. (NY Times)

A newspaper delivery truck smashed into a bridge at the 96th Street transverse on Sunday; the truck was 13’6″ high, and the bridge was 9’11” high. No one was apparently injured. The truck, needless to say, is no longer 13 feet tall. (Fox)
An Elmo impostor was booted form the Central Park Zoo on Sunday. He was reportedly emotionally disturbed. (NY Daily News)
