In a move reminiscent of its larger rival Starbucks, LA-based Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf is planning to open a new cafe just three blocks from a branch that it just opened.
Coffee Bean plans to open its third Upper West Side cafe on Broadway between 76th and 77th Street, according to a filing the company made with the community board to install a new sidewalk cafe at the location. That’s just four blocks from the location it opened earlier this year on 79th and Columbus.
The new cafe will be located in the former home of TeaGschwneder, which closed after less than a year. Coffee Bean had opened a pop-up shop in the same spot last year to sell some of its products, but left that spot empty after a month or so.
THE UPPER WEST SIDE…….COFFEE CAPITOL OF THE WORLD!!!
Unlike Starbucks, Coffee Bean offers fast service and GOOD COFFEE! Their stores are well-managed and the new one on Columbus is quite nice inside. I’d be thrilled if they ran filthy Starbucks out of town.
WHY DO PEOPLE SIT IN COFFEE SHOPS HOURS ON END WITH THEIR LAPTOPS?
