Irving Farm Coffee just hung a sign outside 224 West 79th Street alerting the neighborhood that a new coffee shop is about to open in the neighborhood. Irving Farm coffee gets roasted in Millerton, New York, 90 miles from the city.
I’ve been to the location at 71 Irving Place, near Union Square and can confirm the coffee is good, although a little pricey. It’s a very good hang-out spot with lot o beautiful people typing the next great American novel on their laptops.
West Side Rag reader Martin said he spoke to the building owners, and they said that the back of the building would be opened up for outdoor seating. An employee downtown told us that the spot will open in April or May. It will have some competition from the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf that opened recently on 79th and Columbus.
“Seems like a great addition to the neighborhood! Â I live around there and we need something like this!” wrote Martin.
Indeed. It will be a good spot to get coffee after you hit the cupcake ATM.
Thanks to Gavan for the tip and photo.
Seems like the neighborhood drinks a heckuva lot of coffee!
