Michael Zuk, a Canadian dentist, paid more than $31,000 for John Lennon’s discolored molar, which was just sold at auction. Lennon had given the tooth to his housekeeper as a souvenir. No, the tooth does not sing. (CNN)
Singers and musicians at New York City Opera have offered to work for free this year to secure health benefits and control over their future ventures. City Opera, which recently decided to leave Lincoln Center, may end their guaranteed employment. (WSJ)

Pamela Corey, an ASPCA veterinarian, has been suspended without pay after issuing a correction to an ASPCA release on a carriage horse that died in midtown. The ASPCA initially released a report saying it was “very concerned that Charlie was forced to work in spite of painful maladies,” but Corey’s correction said the ulcers the horse was experiencing are common and there’s no evidence it was in any pain.
