The New York Historical Society at 77th Street and Central Park West has been renovating its facade and galleries for three years, and is about to unveil them to the public on Friday (actually at 11 a.m. on 11/11/11).
The museum sent us a sneak peak, including the picture of a light-filled gallery with touch-screens above. Among other reasons for the massive $70 million renovation was that the historical society wanted to open up the building to let more light in. Here’s some more about the renovations from the museum.
We’re also looking forward to the new “Caffe Storico”, a Venetian-style restaurant that will open soon in the museum, with views of Central Park.
We’ll have more on the renovation in the coming days, but until then here are some photos:
Great to have NY Historical back!
Now that is a curious gallery!
