Eretz Kosher Market and Cafe has closed its doors and the landlord has slapped a for-rent sign on the window. The restaurant, open at 94th Street and Columbus Avenue since 2003, was known for its schnitzel and dubbed itself the “Home of The Best Schnitzel in New York City.” It served Jewish, Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.
On menupages and other sites, Eretz is either praised for its good food and wonderful staff, or eviscerated because of its “hot-tempered host.” We contacted the company for comment, and to see whether its catering business is still open (they do a brisk business at local synagogues), but haven’t heard back.
Thanks to Daren for the tip.
