No arrest has been made 17 days after a Long Island man was attacked and badly beaten outside of the Beacon Theater on the Upper West Side, an NYPD spokesperson confirmed to West Side Rag on Tuesday morning.

Sean Llewellyn, 47, was leaving the concert venue on Broadway near West 75th Street on November 30, after a Trey Anastasio show, when he went to buy an item from a street vendor stationed outside, according to NYPD and other reports.

Llewellyn, a Point Lookout, Long Island resident, handed the man a $20 bill, but the seller ran off with the money without returning the proper change, as reported by the New York Post. Llewellyn, along with another man, ran after the seller but they were quickly attacked by a group of people, according to police.

Llewellyn was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside in stable condition with injuries to the face and head, while the other man refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

“He [Llewellyn] suffered a traumatic brain injury and a broken eye socket that will require surgery. Since then, Sean has been hospitalized and faces a long, challenging road to recovery,” reads a GoFundMe set up for Llewellyn, a father of three. “Sean is a dedicated family man, a proud sports dad, and the ‘fun coach’ everyone loves. As the primary provider for his family, including his three young boys at home, this tragedy has created an overwhelming financial strain.”

The fundraiser has raised $196,000 of its $250,000 goal as of Tuesday.

There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Certainly sounds like a “set-up” to me. How horrific. I hope and pray that he recovers quickly. And bravo to all those who contributed to the GFM account.

Llewellyn, especially spelled that way, is not very common. This makes me wonder if he is related in any way to Desmond Llewellyn, the actor who played “Q” in the first dozen or so James Bond films. Sean would be about the right age to be the son of one of the actor’s two sons.

I don’t think it is worth the effort of a set up to steal this guy’s $20

And there are a lot of security cameras along Broadway and the side streets, a bit strange that the NYPD hasn’t released video.

It’s been 17 days, shouldn’t the NYPD be doing their jobs to catch this guy?

Pretty stupid to chase criminals for $20 unless you’re armed.

And it looks like it was less than $20.

No arrest will be made.

The victim’s life will never be the same.

This is the New New York.

Please be careful and mindful of your surroundings at all time.

Well, so far true, the NYPD hasn’t arrested anyone. Seems odd given the numerous cameras on the block.

Doesn’t mean they didn’t identify the perpetrators. They might be in the run.

My condolences to the victim, if is truly horrific.

After every concert you have people selling shirts on the street by the Beacon. If it was one of them it shouldn’t be that hard to find them. Somebody supplies them with the shirts, somebody pays them.

This man’s life is changed for good by this injury. I hope the perpetrators are caught tried and given a long sentence. I carry a shillelagh as a walking stick. It is capable of breaking bones. I hope I never have to use it. Great generosity for the GFM
