On Chanukah, a Remake for the Ages!

All the buzz these days is about the upcoming remake of West Side Story. But it seems that a homegrown group, called MJE, with its flagship on West 86th Street, has beaten Steven Spielberg to the knife fight. Here’s what they have to say about the remake of the classic musical they sponsored, which you can watch below.

Jets? Sharks? Latkes? Sufganiyot [Jelly Donuts]? Doesn’t matter where your allegiance lies: finding the light is always worth the fight — for all eight nights! Get cool, boys and girls, to this Chanukah homage to one of the greatest musical masterpieces of all time. Chag Sameach!

Many thanks to Harriet Brand.

Absolutely BRILLIANT, especially the “Officer Krupke” parody !
AND, a very fitting tribute to the great Stephen Sondheim (R.I.P. Mr. Sondheim, and thank you for the legacy you’ve left us)

My Jewish friend from New Hampshire said this has been going around for more than a week. I could only wish perhaps it was shown to Sondheim. My gut says he would have approved.

Nice piece.

Just to mention that the name of the singing group is Six13, not MJE. They filmed some of the song at MJE.
