Police say the man above took a woman’s wallet out of her purse on Sunday, August 19 after she left it unattended on the Great Lawn in Central Park. The man then tried to spend $566 on her credit cards, including a transaction at a Seven Eleven located at 1453 3rd Avenue, police said.

With those shorts? I dunno. Check the gyms, he looks kind of ripped.

Not to victim-blame, but people. C’mon. New York is different now, but you still can’t just drop off your belongings in a park and walk away from them. Don’t be like this lady, who I hope gets her money, etc. back.

…. because he couldn’t possibly be a white resident of our community.

Don’t we realize all bad acts on the UWS are committed by evil dark-skinned New Yorkers or those nasty European tourists? give UWSHebrew a minute and he’ll explain it to you!

Don’t you ever get tired of being wrong about this kind of stuff. I don’t think law enforcement is your thing.

Your stereotypes and wild generalizations don’t really fly in the real world. Just the facts man.

I actually am right the vast majority of the time, even though I am railed against on here at the beginning, but when the perpetrators are caught, then I am usually found to be correct. Here is the most recent example of what I said, how I was attacked on here, and then when caught, I was right. I live in the real world, you live in what you wish the world was.

    Notes to self:
    1. Don’t leave personal items unattended in Central Park.
    2. Don’t attempt to buy hot dogs and slushies with stolen credit card.
    3. Don’t make eye contact with surveillance cameras after committing petty crimes.

Not excuse robbery, by any means, but how many times am I gonna hear the phrase “left unattended” in relation to a theft in recent years? Where are these people from? Do they really buy into the hype that NYC is some shiny happy place with no crime? Did they just arrive from Mayberry, RFD? No seasoned New Yorker would dream of leaving their stuff unattended– even for a few seconds. That’s because they know it’s a big bad world out there full of opportunists waiting for some idiot to walk away from their purse or wallet or iPhone or tablet. Jeez…get a friggin clue people!!

Sad, but true. I remember last winter I went to a movie at the AMC on 68th street. While the previews were happening I left my hat & gloves on the seat (as a way to show whoever came in that the seat was taken) to get some napkins. Wasn’t gone 2 minutes & when I came back, they were gone. It was a hand knit winter hat someone had made for me too. Being a NY-er I’d never leave anything unattended like that, but thought to myself, who would steal a hat that someone else had worn, especially if they could afford $17 to see a movie. Lesson learned.

Haha! A newyorker speaks!! So true!! Lets hope that if more of these issues get reported tourists from across america will stay away!!
“New York City sets tourism records in 2017. New York City welcomed 13.1 million international visitors in 2017, an all-time high. In total, 62.8 million tourists arrived in the city last year, a growth of nearly four percent and a record-breaking number for the eighth consecutive year.Mar 23, 2018”

OT 62 million visitors who naturally need to use public transport, eat, water, etc while the city does precious little to address the strain on the system.

Just couldn’t miss an opportunity to victim blame, huh?

Personally, I can see how a woman might appreciate being out on the Great Lawn, without her first thoughts being of caution and worry.

You can continue to “know it’s a big bad world out there full of opportunists waiting for some idiot to walk away from their purse or wallet or iPhone or tablet”, but others might want to enjoy themselves at the Great Lawn.
