A brief but fierce rainstorm on Thursday afternoon caused wide-scale flooding in Riverside Park, with a highway off-ramp at 97th street drenched in several feet of water.

Hippo, Dinosaur and River Run Playgrounds were closed as of late Thursday afternoon, according to the Riverside Park Conservancy.

Yeah. I should have had waders on too when I went out at 6:15. And during the intense cloudburst the sprinklers were still on in the playground at 105th opposite the M11/M7 stop.

All of Riverside Park needs to be dug up & regraded, with underground drains. It’s a disgrace how DeBlasio lets that park rot, while giving away $15M in taxpayer dollars to defend illegal immigrants in court.
