The FIFA World Cup is almost upon us, and it will bring a variety of temporary changes to New York City, including on the Upper West Side.
Earlier this week, West Side Rag was the first to report on a temporary soccer field coming to an unused parking lot behind Tavern on the Green in Central Park.
The neighborhood will also be getting a temporary soccer store for the tournament, which will run from June 11 to July 19.
An official FIFA World Cup 2026 merch store will open in June on the ground-floor level of The Shops at Columbus Circle, located at 10 Columbus Circle. A spokesperson for the store did not specify what day in June the business will open.
The store will sell authentic jerseys, collectibles, and other official FIFA World Cup merchandise.
The temporary shop will “give locals and visitors alike a place to fully immerse themselves in the World Cup buzz,” according to the spokesperson.
Soccer Post, at 250 West 86th Street, off the corner of Broadway, is the other Upper West Side business where you can purchase soccer jerseys and other collectibles.

I am blissfully avoiding World Cup buzz.
Considering the quality of our squad, that’s the best you (we?) can do.
Totally trying to ignore the whole thing.
Cake: Ditto!
Better than most of the buzzes currently besetting us.
I am very happy about at least some exposure.

Just a plug for Soccer Post – it’s great to have a local store with friendly and encouraging employees who have helped our son with his soccer gear as he grows.
Why do I find it funny that my Duane Reade has a World Cup merch section? The powers that be are trying really hard to get Americans into soccer.
CVS has a section of tacky FIFA stuff as well. If I were a fan, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing any of it.
