Last Week by Jane Seskin
Left key in door.
Left key on table
when carrying laundry
in arms.
Left key in coat pocket
when wearing navy jacket.
Left key in house
and walked out.
Considering tattoo of key
on right index finger.
Made sign that says:
KEY
on hot pink post-it
and place on back
of front door.
(P.S. Neighbor has
spare key and likes
brownies.)

We’ve all been there! (Three neighbors have my key….)
reading this was key.
What a a wonderful poem!. Teriffic!
And it resonates. With me that’s for sure. And probably with all older folks on the West Side..
Why just older?
cute, and reminiscent
Nice!! Hooray for neighbor
Like I used to tell my kids and sometimes others: If you don’t have the discipline to place your key where it belongs (perhaps a little basket by the door) you don’t have the freedom to come and go when you want to. Otherwise, accept the poetry of ringing bells and meeting your neighbors and telling a story face to face.
Love it!
I penned a few rhymes a few years ago
