Jacob’s Pickles, the popular Upper West Side restaurant and bar, will open in its new neighborhood location on Wednesday, according to a spokesperson and a poster on the eatery’s storefront.
The beer, biscuits, and pickles restaurant will welcome customers for the first time at 680 Columbus Avenue, between West 93rd and 94th streets. The eatery will accept walk-ins and reservations beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The buildup to the opening on Wednesday is a year-and-a-half in the making, as Jacob’s Pickles first announced at a Community Board 7 meeting in May of 2024 that it would be moving from its longtime home at 509 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 84th and 85th streets.

The new location most recently housed a restaurant called Agave, but is best known by locals as the former home of the popular Mexican eatery Gabriella’s. The Columbus Avenue outpost is nearly twice the size of Jacob’s Pickles current space on Amsterdam.
For the past couple of months, neighbors of the new Columbus Avenue storefront might have noticed the ongoing work to get the space ready, and now the opening date has come.
Its former home on Amsterdam will now begin the official transition to a new bar called Velvet Cowboy, which will be operated by the same owner, Jacob Hadjigeorgis.

They had some kind of soft opening last night, you’d think they’d invite the Rag.
What the heck is picnic sauce? More mystery sauce that’s really just mayo and ketchup.
Third cousin of the samurai sauce, archnemesis of the bang-bang sauce, which ran away with fancy sauce, but crashed the salsa golf and ended up falling in love with the salsa rosada.
And the king of them all is Donkey Sauce. Hail Fieri, long may he reign.
There’s nothing like that seafood tower on the menu now. Hopefully this means a new menu with more that fried chicken sandwiches and meatloaf.
Great news, even better that the former space will continue to be occupied
I don’t like pickles
Then if you go there you will be in a pickle to avoid pickles
Bye, bye Jacobs!!!
Always wondered…how was JP permitted to extend its sidewalk seating beyond its building to in front of the school garden?
Who cares? It was great! So many whiners over ridiculous nonsense on this site
It’s illegal. They have no right to take over so much sidewalk space.
I’m sure their new restaurant will continue to use the space since it is operated by the same owner.
No monitoring by the city authorities.
They weren’t permitted to do it, they just did it. There were so many other issues to deal with over covid and after that enforcement was not going to happen despite many complaints.
It looks like the new space is huge so they won’t need to encroach on the sidewalk there.
BS, they cut a deal with the city. That Amsterdam location was a pain, they narrowed the sidewalk effectively to 3 feet by their door.
Sooo happy they are gone from my nieghborhood, ,Amsterdam Ave. maybe now I can get some sleep
Get ready for an even louder concept! Velvet Cowboy!!
Same, I moved to NYC to get away from the hustle and bustle. Nothing angers me more than people dining at restaurants.
enjoy the roaches!
Im honestly not fat enough, so yes I will be visiting Jacobs Pickles. Wait, my button just popped off. I better not go.
Remember when they were shut down this summer due to health code violations? I wonder if they took the rats and cockroaches with them to the new spot.
you said it was going to open first week in September. thanks for the update.
Why would anyone trust going to eat at Jacob’s Pickles after the level of health violations that had them shuttered at their old location? Disgusting!
Congrats Jacob and George. Soon you’ll take over the world, but let George rest.
Greg is doing great as the GM, his company will very soon open another location in the Times Square area.
Please make sure you keep the turkey leg on the menu for me….
Kind regards,
The Cannells
One of the best wedge salads in the city. I am so glad they are opening this location closer to me.
the question is will this location be kept cleaner?
