Since 2004, the JCC on the Upper West Side has celebrated the Jewish holiday of Shavuot with The Paul Feig z”l Tikkun Leil Shavuot, opening its doors to thousands of people for a free night of study, music, art, celebration, conversation, deep thought…and cheesecake. Celebrate in person all night long, from 9 pm on Sunday, June 1, to 5 am on Monday, June 2.

There are over 70 sessions for you to drop into during this all-night event. Highlights include sessions with Jewish influencers Miriam Anzovin and Chloe Hechter, legendary Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller, EGOT-winning lyricist/composer Benj Pasek, and beloved rabbis including Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, Rabbi Jeremy Kalmanofsky, and Rabbi Rachel Ain; conversations with bestselling author Taffy Brodesser-Akner and Artists Against Antisemitism founder Zibby Owens; art and cooking classes including paint and sip, labaneh making, and mezuzah decorating; music and comedy events with MusicTalks, The Bible Players, and Liz Glazer; and so much more.

This year’s programs cover a range of topics appealing to audiences of all backgrounds, including explorations of contemporary issues such as antisemitism, immigration, and American-Israeli relations. A full track will run all night with sessions sponsored by the World Zionist Organization, titled “Israel-Diaspora Relations + Jewish Peoplehood: From Crisis to Healing.” The Tikkun will begin on the JCC rooftop with an opening song circle at 9 pm.

Shavuot commemorates G-d’s revelation and the Jewish people’s receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Today, many Jews around the world celebrate this holiday by staying up all night and studying Torah, but the joy of engaging with the Torah can be experienced all year long. Join the JCC’s Tikkun partner, the Simchat Torah Challenge, a community of over 15,000 Jews reading one Torah portion each week. Whether you’re new to the Torah or a seasoned scholar, you’ll connect to the wisdom, values, and stories that have guided generations.

Tikkun Leil Shavuot at the JCC honors the memory of Paul Feig z”l, who died in a car accident in 1998. Paul was the brother of longtime JCC board member and board chair emeritus Jeff Feig.

The JCC invites you to stay an hour, two, or all night long for this Upper West Side Shavuot celebration. Come for the revelation, stay for the cheesecake! No registration necessary.
