For the second time in less than a year, two dead chickens appeared on a street median within the same few-block stretch of the Upper West Side.
On Saturday, multiple people reached out to West Side Rag to notify us about a pair of dead chickens on the median at 89th Street and Broadway.
Strangely, a pair of dead chickens, were also sadly found at the end of this past June along a street median at West 92nd Street, West Side Rag reported at the time.

Not only do the chickens found 11 months apart have a striking resemblance to one another, but the animals were laid out in the exact same way on the outer ring of the street median.
Answers never came to light this past June, but the Rag will continue to investigate the matter.

It wouldn’t surprise me to know a sacrifice ritual is being done on the UWS. There have been cults based on the UWS
.
That’s coming right to the point.
I don’t believe this one can be pinned on the Sullivanians, sadly.
I once found dead chickens in that exact location, Santeria without a doubt
Given the location, I wonder if it has anything to do with a resident or residents from the shelters on 88th or on 87th. Or perhaps t is from some people from other parts of the city or other neighborhood restaurants
It’s a statement about our attitude toward flouting laws, rule, and norms nowadays. The answer to the age-old question is not, “To get to the other side.” It’s, “Because the other guy is doing it.”
Hey, it worked
The Knicks won:)
lol!
And the Yankees lost 😞
That’s very unsettling
You need 3 for a pattern.
It has the air of a ritual, and it’s baffling that they can’t identify who is behind it, especially with street cameras installed in the area.
I think Gary Barnett is behind this!
Next thing you know they’ll find a dead bear in Central Park
So now we can’t ask them why they crossed the road?
It’s really not funny. I think sick jokes are not appropriate here but rather an investigation as to how they died as a starting point.
Cutting up chickens ain’t a religion.
what are you talking about? Most religions have animal sacrifices.
Not in itself, of course, but who’s to say it isn’t part of one, just as drinking imaginary blood is part of another?
It’s a niche religious thing. People have said Santeria but not exactly sure. This happens from time to time, usually in parks. Haven’t heard of it happening at a median.
There should be cameras in the area. This should be easy to solve.
Exactly. Ask the police to check the tapes.
Why did the UWS chickens cross the road?
To get to Zabar’s before they ran out of smoked salmon.
Cruel, unfeeling comment. You and others making inhumane remarks like this should be barred from posting in Westside Rag, with your comments deleted.
They’re not set up exactly alike; one face up, the other down.
WTH!
Isn’t this part of our neighborhood’s cultural diversity? Let’s welcome this as another example of diversity and inclusion and our commitment to.being progressive. Next budget let’s vote to fund the chickens for those who can’t afford them and bring the ceremony to a Sunday Open Streets so all can enjoy. YIMBY!
Sorry, Ida, not funny.
Horrible and taking of a live animals life for some crazy reason. It’s no joke.
Or maybe it’s simply animal abuse.
Next up, fatted calves? Eventually stoned heathens may find their way into the mix.
gross
Years ago we would often find dead chickens and strange formations of chicken bones in Riverside Park. They always appeared to be arranged in ways that would suggest some sort of ritual.
There are cameras everywhere. Let’s go to the video tape….
What if that results is racial, religious, immigration status profiling? Where do we draw the line of what is woke and what is lawful in this city?
“Woke” is not a slur. Your repeated denigration of diversity says a lot about you and not the neighborhood. .
Oh, I disagree. “Woke” is a slur.
Price of eggs is off the chart and someone is killing chickens?
It’s certainly strange to see this, but most people are immune to seeing dead animals on their plate after they are cooked. I’m not trying to rile up meat eaters, but rather point out that our minds let one scene seem strange and another scene seem normal.
According to Googlecults: This is a Satanic ritual and offering to Lucifer himself. The life of the creature represents the souls of those that live at the crossroads where the bodies were discovered. This represents a dark and negative spell that has been cast on the community. I am very frightened.
Did they ever figure out who was placing nuts in a line last year? Seems similar, but this is creepier
