Restaurant Week – or, more accurately, Restaurant Month – is back this year from July 22nd to August 18th. The semiannual event, which runs in the summer and winter, gives diners the chance to visit hundreds of New York City’s best restaurants for a prix-fixe meal at a discount.
Restaurants participating in the program can offer 2-course lunches and 3-course dinners for $30, $45, or $60. It’s up to the restaurant to choose which meals to offer and at which price point. Some restaurants are offering their menus through September 1st. Reservations can be made now through the Restaurant Week website at the link.
Restaurant Week began 30 years ago as “a one-time culinary event” to welcome the 1992 Democratic National Convention, according to the website. But it has evolved into a longer, regular program in order to support the tourism and service industries in the city.
This summer, there are nearly 600 restaurants to choose from across the five boroughs. On the Upper West Side there are 40 restaurants participating, including cuisines that range from French and Italian to Japanese, Thai, and more. There are also some new UWS additions to the list compared to last summer, such as Abigail’s, Anār, Kebab Aur Sharab, Sempre Oggi, and The Wolfe.
Here’s the full list of restaurants in the neighborhood that are taking part:

Restaurant week is not like it used to be and now it is extended for almost a month !
Restaurant week was where you got a good deal… Now it’s the same pricing, and no specials , that’s the downside of most of these restaurants.
