A terrible, one-car crash outside of Bristol, Connecticut, took the lives of a couple on Thanksgiving night, seriously injuring their twin sons, 6, and daughter, 2 1/2, who were in car seats in the back seat, Bristol police reported.
“The Cohen’s car swerved off the road and crashed into the woods,” authorities added.
Brooke Cohen, 37, and Toby Cohen, 41, were heading to their new home in Scarsdale, New York, where they had moved from the Upper West Side in August. UWS mom Julie Cohen (no relation) sent us the sad news, saying, “The Upper West Side was their home for at least seven years until a few months ago. They moved because they had three young kids and wanted the space, but the UWS was their place. So many after-school programs posted about the kids on Instagram, because they were such active members of the community.”
The children were taken to the hospital. One child was flown by LifeStar helicopter, according to police. They remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Julie included the link to a GoFundMe account that was organized by Brooke and Toby’s friends.
“We are raising funds to be used directly to support the kids’ care now and as they grow up,” reads the GoFundMe. “We hope to make a lasting difference in their lives and provide all we can after this tremendous loss. They have so much life ahead of them. ”

“Brooke Cohen worked for many years for Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, who said in a statement that she ‘fought for justice with positivity and resilience,'” CBS New York reported. She retired last summer. “Toby Cohen worked for Red Apple Group, a conglomerate owned by John Catsimatidis.”
