I’ve been noticing that the Openings and Closings columns of late have featured far more openings than closings. Some closings are lamentable and perhaps are the fault of unjust landlords, I don’t know. In any case, it is heartening to contemplate some good news for the UWS.

It is great to see this list. It supports local business. It would be interesting to know how many reported closures have been recorded during the same time period. I’m assuming and hoping that we have seen a net positive on openings, but it would be nice to see the actual numbers. It would also be interesting to see the numbers from previous years to understand the comparative trend. Just some thoughts on the matter. Thanks for the reporting.
Does anyone know if Kossar’s changed their mind about opening on 72nd st and WEA? All the signage is still there, but there’s no info on their website.
My friend in the building says it’s very much happening but taking a while I told them I’ll be buying a dozen a week once they get going!

I’m looking forward to some of the “openings” opening! Mermaid Inn, HMart, even the 86/Broadway Starbucks (interior has lovely columns). Little Creatures is wonderful. And I can’t wait to try reiki at Nest NYC.
I feel a little bit like the gal in “Mean Girls” who said, “I wish we could all get along like we used to in middle school…” (??!! What? Was she actually IN middle school??) but I think it’s great to have things to celebrate about our UWS. I came here as a shy NJ boy in 1975 and thank it and — the real cause — its people for helping me to become sort of a human being.
Who is moving into west 79 street and broadway the old shoe store there a sign outside that says it is. Rented
