Stay the Night: Join the JCC in Person for Tikkun Leil Shavuot May 25-26!

Since 2004, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan has celebrated the Jewish holiday of Shavuot with The Paul Feig z”l Tikkun Leil Shavuot, opening its doors to thousands of people for a free night of study, music, celebration, conversation, deep thought…and cheesecake. Celebrate in person all night long, from 10 pm on Thursday, May 25, to 5 am on Friday, May 26.

We have over 70 sessions for you to drop into during this all-night event. Join us for one session or spend the whole night! Highlights include conversations with Tovah Feldshuh (appearing in Broadway’s Funny Girl), Taffy Brodesser-Akner (author of Fleishman Is in Trouble), and Joshua Malina and Aaron Neil (in Broadway’s Leopoldstadt); culinary experiences with Jewish Food Society; a sneak peek screening of the Israeli TV show Chanshi; movement classes including Israeli dance and silent disco; music and comedy events with MusicTalks and The Bible Players; a whiskey tasting with Jews and Booze; and much more.

This year’s programs cover a range of topics appealing to audiences of all backgrounds, and include dynamic and sophisticated explorations of contemporary issues such as antisemitism, the Israeli protest movement, Zionism, American Jewish identity, and more.

A full track will run all night with panels, study sessions, and performances sponsored by the World Zionist Organization, entitled “WZO’s Jewish Peoplehood Hub, Dem-o-krat-ya: Voices, Vision, and Values.” A special pop-up installation of contemporary works on paper created by Jerusalem artists on themes of Shavuot will be on exhibit during the week, and a special tour will be offered at Tikkun by HaMiffal/The Factory Art Platform.

The Tikkun will begin on the JCC rooftop with an opening ritual, at 9 pm. This beautiful moment of communal singing will be led by Rabbi Deborah Sacks Mintz of the Hadar Rising Song Initiative and is open to all.

Shavuot commemorates G-d’s revelation and the Jewish people’s receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Today, many Jews around the world celebrate this holiday by staying up all night and studying Torah. Tikkun Leil Shavuot at the JCC honors the memory of Paul Feig z”l, who died in a car accident in 1998. Paul was the brother of longtime JCC board member and current board chair, Jeff Feig.

The JCC invites you to stay an hour, two, or all night long for this UWS Shavuot celebration. Come for the revelation, stay for the cheesecake! No registration necessary.
