A man attempted to rob and then lock up an 18-year-old woman helping out at her mother’s boutique on Amsterdam Avenue and 80th Street on Saturday morning.
Surveillance video obtained by NBC News shows the man telling the sales clerk, 18-year-old Charlotte Dow, to “just give me the money” after she rung up a purchase of $98 at the boutique, Laina Jane. But because the store is digital-only right now, she did not have cash. He said he would kill her if she didn’t give him money. He then tried to lock her in a dressing room and then blockade her in the bathroom, she told NBC. He told her he would shoot her if she opened the door.

After another customer entered the store, the robber tried to tell them the clerk was not there, but Charlotte yelled to call 911 and the man ran off. Police do not yet have a suspect, NBC reported.
