New Rapid Covid-Testing Site Opens on the UWS

There’s a new spot in the neighborhood to get a Covid test where you’re likely to get results quickly — in fact, the city says it can get you answers within 24 hours.

Some private testing sites have been taking several days — or even weeks — to return results.

The new free testing spot is at 160 West 100th Street, a NYC Dept. of Health building that’s across the street from the 24th precinct. These are PCR tests that look for the virus’ genetic material (the most common type of test), according to Councilmember Mark Levine.

You need to sign up in advance. To sign up for a test, go here.

They screw your one way or the other. If you go to urgent care, you get in instantaneously but have to wait 5 days for a result. If you do it through the city government testers, like the place on 100th street, you get your results almost instantaneously But you have to wait 5 days for an appointment. There is no difference!!
They are both useless.

There are dozens of appointments available for tomorrow at various rapid test sites throughout the city and maybe 100+ available for Wednesday. Not sure what you are talking about.

Unfortunately, the link takes you to a website that doesn’t offer this location for appointments.

That simply means the location is booked up for the allowed days. Check back at midnight for a fresh round of open slots.

Thanks for that information! I was baffled to find zero availability at the three locations closest to me. Apparently the site doesn’t take appointments more than one week out, so you have to wait for new days to be posted.

I was wrong. Thank you for correcting me. But when you open the link on my phone, it doesn’t allow me to scroll to the 100th street site. If anyone else has the same problem, just do it on your laptop. It works.

Not sure if it’s booked or the information is just wrong. But the list of locations doesn’t include UWS at all or that address specifically. Where did you source this information from in the first place?

I was at the 100th street location on Friday for a rapid test, got the results within 3 hours! You just have to keep checking the site and refreshing the web page and new slots are frequently uploaded.
Good luck!

Useless. “Error: Sorry, we couldn’t find any open appointments” for the UWS location, according to the DOH website linked to above. That’s not just searching for today or for this week – it’s searching for forever.
