Police have released some new details about two homicides this month.

On July 9, a 29-year-old man named Nayquan Garden was shot and killed after 3 a.m. on the corner of 105th Street and Columbus Avenue. Police released surveillance videos of the shooting below.

On July 25 — this past Saturday — a 58-year-old man was shot and killed on 101st Street and Amsterdam. Police said the man’s name is Apolonio Rivera and he lived at 216 West 100th Street. “The victim was arguing with another man inside the Frederick Douglass Playground on W. 101st St. near Amsterdam Ave. at 12:45 a.m. when the suspect pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting him in the chest,” The Daily News reported. It was not clear what the men were arguing about.

Anyone with info on these shootings is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).

This is around the corner from the police station. The callousness is distrubing. I hope they get caught and serve their time.

I really want to know what happens that people resort to this violence.
