Weekend History: More Matchbooks Take Us Back to Patzo, La Cocina and Docks

Our post on matchbooks from old restaurants inspired more people to send in their matchbooks from the area and even from around the country. Click to enlarge them.

Barbara Migdal sent the ones below, including one from the long-gone Italian restaurant Patzo on Broadway and 85th.

Diana R. sent in the attractive matchbook below from Docks, a seafood joint that was once on Broadway around 89th Street.

And Drew Kopf sent the framed matchbooks below, which are from all over the place.

I didn’t know about the Docks on 72nd but miss and loved the one on Broadway near 90th.

      • Joanne former Marathoner says:

The Docs on the Upper West Side on Broadway will always hold a special place in my heart. That was where I took my family for dinner after I ran the NYC Marathon in 2002! They used to have a marinated seafood salad that was so yummy.

    2. Leslie Rupert says:

This really brought me back. I so miss these places. Under the Stairs was my lobster go yo for years. The Boulevard was my local watering hole and Dock’s ! I still miss Docks.
