Raking leaves is a meditative undertaking that can calm your soul and…who are we kidding, it’s backbreaking! But leaf-raking is important and you can help out the Riverside Park Conservancy this Saturday by raking leaves in various parts of the park. The leaves will be composted and turned into mulch which will be deposited back in the park.

The event lasts from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. in various parts of the park. To learn more email grassroots@riversideparknyc.org. “Jumping in piles encouraged,” the conservancy said. Learn more here.

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate. It’s nice that people are helping out. But. We left our big lawn behind in New England for the City so we would never have to rake another leaf again. Hey. Have fun!
