Local Giving Away Turkeys Again for Thanksgiving

November 15, 2019 | 2:51 PM
in NEWS

Upper West Sider Jason Haber has launched his annual free turkey giveaway for this Thanksgiving, and is hoping to feed more than 3,000 people.

Here is the link to register for a turkey. The pickup date is Tuesday November 26 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Goddard Riverside, 647 Columbus Avenue (between 91st and 92nd Street).

Haber, a real estate broker, said he’s willing to make home deliveries this year to people worried about their immigration status.

“Being the state of our country in 2019, several people have told us they are afraid to come pick up their turkey for fear of immigration agents raiding my event,” he told us. “In order to ensure everyone in need receives a turkey, this year we are making home deliveries to those who request it.”

What a wonderful thing to do for your neighbors. Taking into consideration that there are many who are worried about ICE raids rises to mensch status above and beyond the call of duty to your brothers & sisters in New York City and the Upper West Side.
Kudos to Jason Haber. He’s just earned my business if/when I need someone in real estate.
Amazing.

Thanks very much. I’m just glad to help people out during the holiday. I’ve received many emails from people who have shared their constant fears about deportation with me and how they struggle to get by. My family and I have been doing this for 5 years but this is the first year where people have been scared to pick up a turkey. That’s the state of our country in 2019…

Jason has been a God send for the past four years. I have been one of the people who have received a turkey for families in my building who don’t have family around, someone will make the turkey and share with others in the building. In return I donate a turkey to the West Side Campaign Against Hunger, paying it forward as Jason does. Wishing the Haber family a very Happy Thanksgiving!

God bless you Mr. Haber!
It is wonderful to hear about people like you. Very sad that picking up food for your family can get you locked up or deported.
You understand the true meaning of giving. Bless you!

Maybe someday the turkeys will get a break as well, and you’ll donate cruelty free food!
